Attendance
Bromstone Primary School is committed to the continuous raising of achievement of all our pupils. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them. We are committed to building strong relationships with families to ensure pupils have the support in place to attend school.
One of our basic principles is to celebrate success. Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils, and we use a variety of weekly, termly, and annual awards to promote good attendance and punctuality. Our school expectation is for every child to attend every day the school is open.

The link between attendance and attainment is clear:
• In 2018/19, just 40% of persistently absent (PA 90% or below) children in KS2 achieved expected KS2 standards, compared with 84% of pupils who were regular attenders.
But attendance is important for more than just attainment:
• Regular school attendance can facilitate positive peer relationships, which is a protective factor for mental health and wellbeing.
It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell. Please see NHS guidance in the link below to assist you.
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone us on the first day. Please let us know that your child won't be in and provide us with a reason. Call us on 01843 867010.

If you would like to request leave of absence for your child please complete Request for Absence Form. Please note that holidays requested in term time are only approved in exceptional circumstances. Please refer to our Attendance Policy for further information.
